Housing
SOCSOUTH is served by the U.S. Army Garrison Miami Housing Office located in Doral, about 25 miles north of Homestead in the City of Miami. You can reach Housing by calling (305)437-2664, DSN: 567-2664. Everyone needing to rent or desiring to purchase a home in this area MUST contact the Garrison Housing Office prior to signing a contract.
You will find literally hundreds of listings of homes for sale and homes for rent in the Homestead area. Surrounding communities you may want to consider would include Kendall, Cutler Bay, Florida City, and a few other incorporated and unincorporated residential areas between Homestead and Miami. Homestead is located in Miami-Dade County.
Devastated by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the city has grown back into a sprawling residential option for Miami residents seeking less expensive land and housing opportunities.
